Snake
From rain yesterday, the Snake bumped overnight from 3700 cfs to 4080 cfs at the gauge in the canyon. Rain forecasted for today and tomorrow will likely bump flows even more. Water temps are low, averaging 55°F, and with forecasted temperatures could stay well below that average. Good news; neither big tributaries to the upper Snake are blown out… yet!
Overcast, rainy and cold temps are restricting dry fly action to a few small cold weather bugs like BWOs and mayflies. With this weather and time of year, most action will be on streamers, and double nymph rigs. For streamers try Lil Kim and Sparkle Minnows. Nymphs we’ve seen success on include Duracell, Firestarter, and other beadhead nymphs in general, although we’ve been beginning to tie on smaller sizes.
Salt
The general storm in the area led to a little jump in flows, from under 600 cfs to 630 cfs. Rain is forecasted for today and tomorrow, then cloudy and sunny, with temps at night in the low 30s. Fish nymphs and streamers this time of year, especially in poor weather.
Green
The Green at Warren Bridge is flowing at 220cfs. Hopefully, rain today and tomorrow will bump the flow a bit. Both the New Fork and the Green are becoming tougher to fish because of low water.
Temps are cold in Pinedale, forecasted to be in the low 30s at night, keeping water cold and fish metabolisms slow. Don’t be worried about later starts and fish streamers. Cloudy with part sun early next week will likely provide overcast for continued streamer fishing.
