Snake River

Fall is hitting the Snake. Slightly less commercial pressure, big foam is still on, and beautiful yellowing leaves. Dry-dropper is bound to be productive (consider Hoppers, and Chernobyls to Firestarter or Duracells).

At the gauge in the canyon, the Snake is flowing at 3870 cfs. Water temps are ranging between 55°F and 59°F. The weather this next week looks like more of the same, with night temps in the upper 30s, sunny/partly cloudy in the day with temps in the mid 70s, until some rain at the end of next week.

Salt River

The Salt has been fishing really well coming into fall. Hoppers are still jumping off the banks, so consider throwing hopper-droppers, with a bead head nymph. Streamer fishing is turning on later in the day.

At the gauge near Etna, the Salt is flowing at 645 cfs. It’s been getting cold in the evenings, and is predicted to stay in the mid 30s at night for the next week. The weather this next week looks to be some sun, and partly cloudy, which might get the streamer fishing going.

Green River

The Green is currently low, flowing at 253 cfs, a rate that has been declining steadily over the past several days. Water temps are staying low into late morning, so don’t feel bad about a late start. Dry-dropper rigs with hoppers or Tricos have yielded a lot of success. Dedicated streamer fishing has also found plenty of good fish recently.

The 10 day forecast, for Pinedale, predicts mid 30s at night, sun and clouds through Tuesday, then colder temps with a storm cycle through Friday.
