Teton Troutfitters is comprised of some of the most world-class fly fishing guides that Jackson Hole has to offer. They are dedicated to giving you the best-guided experience possible.
EXCELLENT Based on 97 reviews Nick KaschalkOctober 11, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was one of the best fishing experiences I’ve ever had and I couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to have it. Also if you’re coming to Wyoming and you want to fish, Teton Troutfitters is the way to go. Nic was an amazing guide. He was so efficient at getting us into some fish. Some of most fish we caught were in spots where we watched other guide services breeze right through and I attribute that directly to Nic’s knowledge of the river and where the fish are. Nic also gave me so many tips and pointers that I think will benefit me greatly when fly fishing by myself back home. This company exceeded my expectations and if I am fortunate enough to come back to Jackson, I will definitely be booking with Teton Troutfitters. Thanks guys! Natalie ArndtOctober 7, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a FANTASTIC time. Great guides and great weather. Mike, Warren, and Rainey were top notch. We will be coming back, no doubt. Danny M.October 6, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had an awesome day fishing with Ryan a few weeks ago. 10/10 experience. I've been out a bunch over the years (although never on the Snake River) but it was my girlfriend's first time fly fishing - he did a great job teaching / guiding us both and is overall just a great guy / fun person to be out there with. We both caught a ton of fish. Looking forward to getting back out there next summer. Dave LonerganOctober 4, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My daughter and I fished the Snake River Canyon with Ryan in August of this year. We had a great day, and Ryan was an excellent guide. While he takes his fishing seriously, he was also great about keeping light, with great tips and instruction when needed. Plenty of fish came to the boat, but even if they didn’t it would have been a great and memorable day. Thanks Ryan! We have had a weekly fishing experience with Teton Troutfitters this summer and it was five star every week, with each of the guides--Ryan, Nic, and Rainey. Their secret sauce is how they work the rivers whether rapids or slow floats (e.g. the Salt). They put Tammy and my fishing skills to the full test whether casting, mending or setting. And the daily results pay off. We will be with Teton Troutfitters for years to come. Micah SommerOctober 1, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you're considering fly fishing in Wyoming, look no further than Teton Outfitters. You won't regret it. Last week, my dad, husband, and I went on a fly fishing adventure in Wyoming, we fished with three different outfitters. After a disappointing experience in West Yellowstone, where the guides surprisingly charged us for flies and leaders (and then kept the flies - a practice we'd never encountered before), we were desperately hoping for better luck. Enter Nick from Teton Outfitters – hands down the best guide we've ever had, and we fish a lot. Nick stood out with his infectious positivity, endless patience, and deep knowledge of the sport. What truly set him apart was his ability to quickly gauge our individual skill levels and tailor his instruction accordingly. He didn't just put us on fish; he actively worked to improve our techniques, offering valuable tips and tricks to enhance our casting and catch rates. Under Nick's guidance, I pushed beyond my comfort zone of dry-dropper rigs and significantly improved my dry fly fishing game. For my streamer-loving husband, Nick went above and beyond. While many guides shy away from letting guests throw large articulated streamers, Nick recognized my husband's expertise and enthusiasm for chucking streamers. He provided a top-notch streamer setup, which led to my husband landing both a massive cutthroat and a huge brown trout within minutes of each other. What impressed us most was Nick's willingness to move beyond the typical "bobber rig" approach that many guides default to. He tailored the experience to our preferences and skill levels, making the entire trip feel personalized and engaging. By the end of our two days together, Nick felt more like a friend than a guide. We're even hoping he'll visit us in Arkansas to fish the White River when we move there! Our experience with Teton Outfitters was exceptional from start to finish. A special thanks to Ryan for pairing us with Nick – it's clear you're running a first-class operation. For anyone looking to fish in the area, Teton Outfitters should be your top choice. We're already looking forward to our next trip with them! Scott BoothSeptember 29, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a great time with Chili, particularly given the late season and the windy conditions. Still a great day on the Snake River! Thanks Chili and Teton Troutfitters! Very patient and took so much time to teaching us how to be better at fly fishing. Thank you Nic! We will be booking again next trip up Shelly SimisterSeptember 29, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had the best day on the river with Nick! We couldn’t have ask for a better guide. He was so patient, knowledgeable, and had the best personality. Would totally recommend using this company and don’t forget to ask for Nick!! Hailing from Savannah, Ga, Ryan never looked back upon arriving in Jackson Hole. Originally moving west to ski, it wasn’t long before Ryan fell in love with the summers. Ryan grew up in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and playing sports, so guiding fly fishing was an obvious choice when trying to find summer employment. Under the mentorship of the original owner of Teton Troutfitters, Scott Hocking, and head guide Mike McCloud, Ryan was able to make a career out of doing what he loves.
Teton Troutfitters is one of the oldest outfitters in the area, and Ryan intends to carry on the principles that founder Scott Hocking instilled in the company over the last three decades.
Fly fishing is such a great way to spend a day, and it is our pleasure to be able to share that with all of our guests that join us on the water.
Mike has been a long-time guide for Teton Troutfitters. After spending over a decade as a white water rafting guide, McCloud finally switched to the rigid boat to chase trout. In his years as a guide in the Jackson area, Mike has honed his craft as a guide and is an excellent person to spend time with while putting you on some fish.
When not fishing, you can find Mike volunteering as ski patrol at Snow King or cheering on the Penn State Nittany Lions football team.
Nic is one of the most dedicated anglers you will find. He eats, sleeps, and breathes fly fishing. Originally from Nebraska and Florida, Nic has been passionate about the outdoors his entire life. The only thing that Nic loves more than fly fishing is sharing his love for the sport with others. He is an excellent guide and anyone in the range of novice to expert will find value in their time on the water with Nic.
In the winter you will find Nic teaching skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and in his off time, Nic enjoys biking, playing soccer, and spending time outside.
The Kentucky-born Warren Wenzel has been in the Jackson area for about 7 years now. Bouncing around the west for a few years chasing snow, Warren finally found a home here in Wyoming.
Warren is an avid outdoorsman spending almost all of his time outside. He loves to hunt, fish, and mountain bike. Warren has been guiding fly fishing for the better part of a decade, but his true love for the sport showed when he founded The Riverbend Project, a nonprofit organization that takes cancer patients and survivors fly fishing.
Warren is a very competent guide, and an absolute blast to be around.
From St. Louis Missouri comes the most enthusiastic guide we have on the team. Sam’s passion for fly fishing is evident to anyone who has spent time around him. Though he is not afraid to have clients fish with wet flies, Sam is definitely partial to the dry fly as you will find in most pure fly anglers.
Sam also really enjoys studying entomology and learning about the feeding patterns of trout. When not fishing you’ll find Sam playing with his dog Unkus, or being social around downtown Jackson.
